Dr Hall was a member of the Chair of Mathematics for Uncertainty Quantification from its foundation in 2018 until 2020 when he accepted a faculty position in Scotland. Dr Hall is presently a Baxter Fellow and Lecturer in Applied Mathematics in the School of Science and Engineering at the University of Dundee. His research focuses on mathematical aspects of predictive modelling, stochastic simulation, and uncertainty quantification, and he has received funding to support this work from UKRI / Heilbronn Institute for Mathematical Research. Since joining Dundee, Dr Hall has been named a Fellow of the Institute of Applied Mathematics and its Applications. His growing esteem is further recognised by his election to the General Committee (Trustee) of the Edinburgh Mathematical Society. Dr Hall teaches statistics, applied mathematics, and uncertainty quantification and is an Associate Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy.

Dr. Luis Espath takes up Assistant Professor position at University of Nottingham, UK. From Jul/2019 to Dec/2021, Luis Espath was a research fellow, member of the UQ Chair, Mathematics for Uncertainty Quantification. In Jan/2022, he took an Assistant Professor position in Applied Mathematics in the School of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Nottingham, UK. Luis and his students have strong ties with us and still collaborate with the UQ chair on various fronts, ranging from Scientific Machine Learning and Stochastic Optimization to Bayesian Experimental Design, including applications on wind field reconstruction, electrical impedance tomography, and thermoelasticity. Moreover, we are furthering our collaborations through a cotutelle program (joint PhD) for PhD candidates.

In October 2022, I was appointed Lecturer in Statistics at the School of Mathematics, Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Leeds, UK. I am 50% seconded, initially for two years, to work with the UK Met Office to influence and deliver high-impact research in the area of weather and climate science and services. This unique role aims to provide new links between the Met Office and the School of Mathematics.

In August 2022, Sebastian Krumscheid was jointly appointed to the tenure-track position of Professor for Uncertainty Quantification by the Institute of Applied and Numerical Mathematics (IANM) of the Department of Mathematics and the Steinbuch Centre for Computing (SCC) at KIT. Previously, he was a Junior Professor for Mathematics for Uncertainty Quantification at RWTH Aachen University. At KIT, Sebastian Krumscheid leads the newly established junior research group Uncertainty Quantification (UQ), which develops state-of-the-art mathematical and numerical techniques for treating and quantifying uncertainties in complex computational models. The UQ group's research activities focus on theoretical and methodological aspects as well as interdisciplinary projects where theoretically sound methods are tailored to applications in close cooperation with domain scientists.

Haakon Hoel worked as an Assistant professor at MATH4UQ from 2019 until 2022. In April 2022, he was appointed Associate Professor in Mathematics at the Department of Mathematics, University of Oslo, Norway. Haakon’s research interests are Monte Carlo methods, numerics for stochastic differential equations and SPDE, and data assimilation.

After working as a research and teaching assistant at the MATH4UQ chair for three years and completing my master's thesis under the supervision of Prof. Raul Tempone and Dr. Chiheb Ben Hammouda, I joined Allianz Global Investors in May 2023 as a Quantitative Investment Strategist in the Digital Advisory and Wealth Management Solutions team. In this position, my responsibilities include researching and developing quantitative solutions with a focus on asset allocation, risk management, and ESG, and tailoring them to meet the needs of AllianzGI's strategic partners and retail clients.

I joined the UQ chair first in 2020 to complete my bachelor’s thesis. Then I had the opportunity to continue working within the group as a HiWi for the duration of my master’s degree in applied mathematics at RWTH Aachen University. I feel very lucky to have been part of the chair. During my time, I had the chance to work on an exciting project with very interesting and bright collaborators. I have learned a lot and deepened my knowledge and skills in different areas of Mathematics and I got insights on the world of academia. Now that I have completed my degree, I am excited to start the first step of my professional career as a startup graduate in technology and innovation at Deutsche Telekom where I will have the opportunity to work on various projects within different departments.
